What drives our teammates to give back? Purpose. Whether that means putting a smile on someone’s face or paying a good deed forward, purpose motivates team members like Christopher, Neville and Christine to make a difference in the communities where they live and work.      This #GlobalServiceMonth and beyond, we proudly celebrate our teammates’ year-round commitment to serving our communities. In 2023, our teammates volunteered more than 2.5 million hours, with more than 50% of our workforce participating in a volunteer activity – our highest participation to date.

Nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers struggle to feed themselves and their families. For more than 40 years, City Harvest has been working to eliminate food insecurity in NYC, and in 2023 alone, they rescued more than 77 million pounds of food and delivered it to hundreds of food pantries and soup kitchens across the five boroughs. This work is made possible with the help of #BofAVolunteers like Sam.

We proudly partnered with the Los Angeles Dodgers to help bring baseball to our local LA community at this year’s Play It Forward Baseball Clinic. With the help of former pro Andre Ethier, the greater LA youth in attendance learned physical skills, like how to field, bat and pitch, that taught important life skills, like decisiveness, focus and confidence. We can’t wait for next year!

It’s #CommunityCollegeMonth! Through our partnerships with 34 community colleges across the country, we help ensure our workforce reflects the communities we serve. Our skills-first approach means we look for talented individuals who have what it takes to succeed at Bank of America – and provide training and education to them through The Academy.   While attending Central Piedmont Community College, our teammate Christopher Wilson started his career with us working within Global Technology. Christopher took on new challenges, welcomed opportunities to connect with our executives and trusted himself – getting him to the position he is in today.

As a lead up to the Boston Marathon® presented by Bank of America, we spent the day at the Bank of America Play It Forward Clinic at Dearborn STEM Academy in Partnership with Boston Athletic Association empowering Boston’s youth through sports and education. Our amazing instructors and Boston athletes: Meb Keflezighi, Tedy Bruschi, Coco Crisp and Pedro Martinez, inspired the next generation by teaching them valuable life lessons and essential skills for success on and off the field.
