As we begin National Hospital Week, we proudly honor our colleagues for the positive impact they make in the lives of not only our patients and community members, but each other, as well. 💙 We are bound together by a collective mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. And that is no more evident than in this story of registered nurse Elle's surprise graduation from her Mission Hospital Labor & Delivery teammates. 👩🎓 "I feel incredibly supported by the team on L&D. From the scrub techs, CNAs, nurses, doctors - it's everyone on the floor. I work with the very best." Thank you to Elle and all of our colleagues for their dedication and support of every person who comes through our doors each day. When you care like family, it shows.

At HCA Healthcare, we foster a culture of lifelong learning and continuous professional development. Throughout their careers, many nurses choose to pursue education opportunities to drive innovation in patient care delivery and to expand their leadership skills. Danielle “Elle” Fox, a labor and delivery clinical nurse coordinator, has served patients at HCA Healthcare’s Mission Health in Asheville, North Carolina since 2018. To enhance her leadership capabilities, Elle embarked on a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program. When it came time for her Master’s graduation, Elle decided that she wasn’t going to travel to the ceremony several states away – even though she was named valedictorian. This didn’t stop her fellow hospital colleagues from celebrating her achievements. When Elle was called to her unit desk for an “emergency,” she was met by her colleagues who had made her a graduation cap, gown and chords. Watch as nurses and other members of Elle’s hospital family clapped and cheered Elle on during a surprise hospital graduation ceremony. “There is nothing I would have changed other than having my husband, kids and family witness the sweetest graduation on my unit in person,” said Elle. “I would much rather be celebrated by close friends than thousands of people I don’t know. We helped bring a lot of babies into the world that day, and I was right where I was supposed to be.” Please join us in congratulating Elle on her accomplishments! This Mother's Day weekend, plan on showing-up for the people you love by putting your health first. 🥰 Mammograms are key to staying on top of your breast health and detecting conditions in their early stages. Early detection can save your life, so you can be there for those who matter most. At Mission Health , we know it can be challenging to make time for screenings, so we’ve made scheduling easy. “Nursing is actually nursing wherever you are from, whether it’s from Kenya, whether it’s from the United States... Wherever you are, nursing is nursing.” - Mission Hospital Registered Nurse, Delvine Otieno Throughout Nurses Week and #InternationalNursesDay on May 12, the contributions of nurses are celebrated around the world. 🌎 Mission Health is especially fortunate to be home to around 40 internationally-educated nurses from Kenya, Colombia, Ghana, the Philippines and beyond. All of our nurses are an integral part of leading the way in addressing diversity and creating a culture of nursing excellence, belonging and a positive practice environment. Sharing an understanding of our lived experiences across the globe is a crucial step toward a supportive and thriving care team. To all of our nurses, we thank you and wish you a happy, healthy #NursesWeek! 💙 Watch the WLOS ABC 13 interview with Delvine and fellow RN, Louis Owusu, here: https://bit.ly/3QB4Gg0

In recognition of April being #NationalVolunteerMonth, our colleagues were out and about in WNC serving in numerous ways with many organizations! 🍎🐶🗑🛠🌳 Just last month alone, our Mission Health teams put in nearly 800 hours at organizations pictured here, including Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, Rosman High School, Kaylee's Closet, Southside Community Garden, Asheville Humane Society, Food Connection, Foothills Food Hub, Asheville GreenWorks, Macon County Care Network, Babies Need Bottoms and Buncombe Partnership for Children. Did you know? HCA Healthcare colleagues can earn a $200 Care Card, a special grant to a 501(c)(3) charitable organization of their choice, for every 10 hours of volunteer service logged? 💵 And they can do that up to five times, for a total of $1,000 that each person can direct to the causes they care about most.
